William Thornton Lowry Obituary

Mr. William Thornton Lowry was born September 25, 1955 and passed away on April 12, 2026.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Seavie Lowry and Nettie Brooks Lowry, along with two sisters, Laura F. Locklear, and Una Gale Lowry, one brother, Max E. Lowry, and a beloved son, Quinn Xaviar Lowry. His paternal grandparents were William Lowry and Crossie Maynor Lowry. His maternal grandparents were Peter Brooks and Addie Cummings Brooks.

Thornton was the owner of Lowry Construction and Mechanical, LLC which was named in the year 2001. He held all licenses that North Carolina had to offer: HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Construction and Refrigeration. He graduated from Fayetteville Technical School and started the dream of his own business in 1975 and it grew into a new office in ComTech Park. He was a proud man because he had two sons, William and Quinn, working by his side. A perfect plan for a family business: Thornton (bidding jobs), Will (service tech), Quinn (project manager), Fannie (bookkeeper). Thornton was a member of Berea Baptist Church, became a deacon and was part of the building committee. He was a member of the advisory board of ComTech Park. Thornton went on several mission trips: New Mexico, South Dakota, and to the Philippines to build a new church. He enjoyed serving his community.

Thornton leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife of 50 years, Fannie Sue Lowry, a son, William T. Lowry, Jr. (Sheneen), widow of Quinn, (Tamra Chavis Lowry), one sister, Attie Mae Locklear, one brother, Richard Seavie Lowry, Jr. (Vickie), five grandchildren, Zaviar M. Lowry, Kearsey B. Lowry, Ella E. Lowry, Zoe S. Lowry, and Ian W. Lowry, a wonderful, caring family with loving nieces, nephews and cousins that dedicated time to care for him along with his sister-in-laws.
