Walter Evans Jr. Obituary
Mr. Walter Haywood Evans, Jr. (Houckis), age 75, of Lumberton, NC was born in Cumberland County on August 27, 1947, and passed away on November 18, 2022.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter H. Evans Sr., and Adell Oxendine Evans, a sister, Dianna Evans.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories two daughters, Lisa Kae Evans of the home and Angela Marie Evans of Florida; siblings, Claudia Evans, Lillian (Luis) Hernandez both from Ohio; many nieces, cousins, and friends.
He graduated from Central High School in Columbus, Oh. He enjoyed the sport of boxing and won the golden gloves. He entered the draft and served in Vietnam with the Army. Once out of the service he worked at Fanklin Chemicals and retired from there. In 1993 he moved his family back to his hometown. He had spinal cord injury and he participated in the national wheelchair games through the VA, he won several golds, silver, and bronze medals.
