Velissa Michelle (Oliver) Locklear, age 58, of Pembroke, N.C. passed away on January 14, 2025, at Morrison Manor in Laurinburg, N.C. She was born on December 31, 1966, to the late Edna Rosetta Norris (“Tina Baby”) and Donald Quick. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Paul David Lesley, and her Aunt Dorothy G. Clark. Velissa was raised in McColl, S.C., alongside her five siblings.
Survived by brothers: Terry Lesley (Janet) of Blenheim, S.C., Michael Norris (Tracey) of Palm Coast, Fla., Richard Johnson of Turbeville, S.C., the late Paul Lesley of Rockingham, N.C., and sister: Valerie Rahner (Rick) of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Uncle: Buck Norris (Delia) of Virginia, Aunts: Marie G. Lee (Larry), Carolyn Grooms, Loraine G. Lesley, all of McColl, S.C, and Darlene G. Rosario (Alberto) of Goldsboro, N.C.
Velissa married Gregory Locklear on August 19, 1995. She is survived by her two beloved children, Gregory Hunter and Bayleigh Elizabeth (Trey), who were the center of her universe. Velissa was a dedicated employee of Campbell Soup. Velissa’s love for her children was profound and unwavering, a choice she made every day. She was a fiercely devoted protector of her family, always willing to defend them against any challenge.
Velissa embodied the qualities of a Proverbs 31 woman: energetic, strong, wise, and clothed with dignity. She feared the Lord and lived her life striving to follow his commandments. She raised her children with love and faith, they were blessed. Truly, she was more precious than rubies. Her perspective on life went beyond earthly experiences, recognizing the eternal significance of faith and love.
