Mr. Troy Cox, age 76, of Lumberton, NC was born on February 10, 1950, and departed this life on March 19, 2026.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Peggy Cox, his father, Troy Cox, his mother, Retha Allen Butler, and three brothers, Wilbert Lee Butler (Buck Allen), Donald Gene Allen and Charlie Cox Butler.
He is survived by his son, Tommie Lynn Chavis of Hillsborough, North Carolina, his daughters, Rhonda Gail Ransom of Fairmont, North Carolina, and Lori Ann Oxendine of Pembroke, his brother, Ray Cox of Lumberton, NC, and Christopher Ransom, whom he raised and loved as his own son. He also leaves behind four grandchildren and eight great-granchildren who will cherish his memory.
Troy proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1968 to 1969. He was stationed in Korea and also served in Vietnam as part of the A Company, 1st Battalion, 9th Infantry, known as "The Village Cox Rats".
He will be remembered for his service, his life, and the family he leaves behind.
