Theresa Locklear Obituary
Born June 1, 1957, Theresa Gale Locklear was the 2nd of three children birth to Marvin and Nina Locklear. Theresa was born and raised by Bonnie and Jolly Locklear in Pembroke, NC. Theresa continued to live in Pembroke where she raised her two beautiful children that she loved and adored. Theresa attended the University of North Carolina where she achieved her Bachelors in Pre-Law, a Bachelors in Social Work and a Masters in Social Work. Theresa worked as a Private Investigator since 1999 with the Robeson County Public Defender’s Office and retired in 2023. In 2010 she became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She served as the Chairperson for the Pembroke Housing Authority, served on the Robeson County Pretrial Release Program Board, Robeson County Domestic Violence Center and served 10 years as the Pembroke Town Councilwoman. Theresa was the first elected female as Town Council for the Town of Pembroke. Theresa was proud of her town and tribe. She took pride in her role as one of the leaders in the community. Prior to being elected Theresa founded the annual Etiquette Dinner program through the Pembroke Housing Authority to provide youth with a life changing experience and knowledge. During her terms as Town Councilwoman, Theresa developed and implemented several annual community events and programs for town residents and those in the surrounding community. These programs include the Tea Party, Hats and Heels, the Men’s Gathering, Christmas festivities in the Milton R. Hunt Park, Mother and Son Banquet, 4th of July festivities in the Milton R. Hunt Park, and she spear headed the naming of the Milton R. Hunt Memorial Park. Additionally, Theresa assisted her fellow Councilmen in securing millions of dollars to improve the town’s infrastructure and economic growth. Theresa loved helping others in her community and county, advocating for those less fortunate, and leading by example. But most of all she loved Jesus Christ her Savior, her beautiful family, and small circle of friends. Theresa was the prime example of the Proverbs 31 woman. She was energetic, strong, wise and clothed with dignity and strength. She feared the Lord and strived to keep his commandments. She raised her children up and they all called her blessed. She is truly more precious than rubies.
