Mrs. Susan Locklear Hardin, 67, of Hwy 72 East, Lumberton, died May 15, 2025 at Cape Fear Valley Hospital. She was born in Robeson County, on April 3, 1958, to the late Varser Locklear and Strawdie Locklear. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sanford Hardin and daughter Strawdie Catherine Hardin, three sisters, Hazel Locklear, Varser Lindell Jones and Jeanette Locklear.
Mrs. Susan is survived by her two daughters, Selena Barton and Stephanie Hardin Gonzalez and husband Jose Gonzalez all of Lumberton, one son, Sanford Hardin Jr, of Lumberton, twelve grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, three sisters, Wilma Godwin, Edna Litchfield, Bridget Locklear, and a brother, Stephen W. Locklear, and a host of friends and loved ones.
Mrs. Susan was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, a great grandmother, a sister, an aunt and a very loved friend. She was a stay-at-home mom to her children until they were in high school and then started setting up at native American Pow Wows making handmade Jewelry. She loved celebrating the Native American culture by creating beautiful jewelry and flutes with her late husband Sanford Hardin. She will be greatly missed by all of the family and community who knew her.
