Sharon (Jones) Lamkin

Mrs. Sharon Jones Lamkin, aged 62, of Fayetteville, NC passed peacefully on Friday, May 5, 2023, at Angel House Hospice Care Center in Whiteville, NC. Sharon was born May 12, 1960 in Lumberton, NC to the late Johnnie and Leola Revels Jones of St. Pauls, NC. She went home to be with the Lord after brief illness.

Sharon was preceded in death by spouse Francis Michael Lamkin; parents: Johnnie and Leola Revels Jones; brothers: Johnnie Jones Jr., James Hilbert Jones, Lee Ander Jones, Lee Straw Jones, and Therion “Jack” Jones; sisters: Josie Rae Hammond, Ora Lee Hammonds, and Lelan “Lillian” Rose Thompson; and special niece Ashley Matilda Oxendine.

Sharon is survived by her daughter, Franchesca Ann Lamkin (Brian Long) of Pineville, NC; brother: Kenneth Jones (Teresa) of St Pauls, NC; sisters: Lynda Oxendine (Herbie) of Hope Mills, NC, and Wanda Barnes (Charles) of Lumberton, NC; special friends Mrs. Ellen Mintz, Mrs. Brenda, Mrs. Liliy Brown, and Neil Rhodes.

Sharon previously lived in Charlotte, NC for several years and was employed with the Target Corporation. After moving back to the Lumberton, NC area later in life, she enjoyed her time spent with family and loved ones.

The family would like to extend a special “thank you” to the staff at Heritage Place Senior Living (Fayetteville, NC), Cape Fear Valley Medical Center 5th Floor medical team, and Angel House Hospice Care Center (Lower Cape Fear LifeCare) of Whiteville, NC.

In lieu of flowers, we ask for donations to Angel House Hospice Care Center/Lower Cape Fear LifeCare (www.lifecare.org/donate/) to help provide other families the same level of care for their loved ones we received for our beloved Sharon, or to the American Brain Foundation (www.americanbrainfoundation.org/donation/) to help further research for Lewy Body Dementia and diagnostic testing.

Sharon’s family will be accepting friends and loved ones to gather for visitation at Revels Funeral Home in Lumberton, NC on Friday, May 12th from 2:00pm-2:30pm. Interment will follow at 3:00pm on Friday, May 12th at Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton, NC.
