Ruth Strickland

Mrs. Ruth Roberts Strickland was born in Robeson county on May 19, 1926 to the union of the late Troy Sr. and Earlie Roberts. She died Saturday, August 8, 2020 at the age of 94 years.

Ruth was a student at Pembroke State College for 2 years. She married William Molon Strickland on December 25, 1948. She began a long journey of being a wife of a Navy Veteran of 44 years , mother of 8 children, and home maker. Ruth attended Harpers Ferry Church and sang in the choir. Ruth also enjoyed quilting, ceramics, and trips to the beach with her friends.

Surviving her are her children: Janice Bochichio, William M. Stricklin, Jr., Carolyn Stricklin Hunt, Alesia Strickland, Sara Locklear all of Pembroke; Ronnie Stricklin (Ophelia) of Rowland; Kim Stricklin (Prospect); Karen Vogel of Norfolk, VA; 2 sisters, Lucy Jane Harris (Elias) and Katherine Oxendine; 1 brother, Larry Roberts (Kay). She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and many relatives, friends, and loved ones.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband William Molon Strickland; 4 brothers, Joe Roberts, Herbert Roberts, James Ray Roberts, Troy Roberts Jr.; 1 sister, Christine Hunt; 2 grandchildren, Jason Bochichio, Tina Strickland; and 1 great grand, Aidan Caldwell.
