Ruth Locklear went to her heavenly home at the age of 78, on February 9th, 2025. Ruth was a daughter, wife, mother, sister, niece, grandma, and great-grandmother. She spent her last hours at UNC Southeastern surrounded by those who loved her. She was born March 30th, 1946, to the late Dewey and Corthian Oxendine preceded in death by a husband William Locklear and daughter Tammy Locklear.
Ruth is survived by children Delphia (Perry) Locklear, Helen Locklear, and Johnny Oxendine; three grandchildren Summer (Daniel) Locklear, Logan Locklear, James Locklear (Tooty); one great-grand Sawyer Jones; one godson Karl Patrick Scott, very special nieces/friend/nephew Joyce Oxendine, Linda Chavis, Shorty Oxendine, Theresa Locklear, and Frank “Buster Brown” Lowery.
Ruth loved the Lord and everyone she met. Even in her last hours on earth she never forgot where her healing came from. Ruth fought a good fight, finished her course, and kept the faith. She loved spending time with her family, children, grand/great grandchildren and going to town every chance she got. She loved and was loved by many.
