Mrs. Ruby N. Locklear, 74, of Robeson County, passed away peacefully at her home on June 15, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on May 13, 1952, to the late Ander Mack and Kathleen Smith Locklear of Fairmont, North Carolina.
In addition to her parents, Kathleen and Ander, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stedwell Locklear; her brother, Samuel Mack Locklear; and her sisters, Glenda Locklear Kiser and Doris Locklear.
She is survived by her children, Philip Locklear (Tonya) and Sabrina Locklear (David); her sister, Sandra Kay Britt (Jack); her grandchildren, Brittany Jacobs (Jordan), Jasmine Locklear, Skyler Locklear, Taylor Edwards (John), Ethan Hunt, Hunter Singh, David Singh Jr., and John Singh; and her three great grandchildren, Kenzli Guidroz, Gracie Jacobs, and Presley Edwards.
Ruby lived a life defined by strength, independence, and family. She was strong willed and independent and had the spirited nature of a true Southern woman. In her younger years, she was an avid softball player and carried that same competitive, determined spirit throughout her life.
She also leaves behind a host of special nieces, nephews, family, and friends whom she loved dearly, with special mention to Joann Rogers, Connie Hunt and Betty Hayes.
Ruby will be remembered for her strength and the love she gave her family. She enjoyed traveling and baking, and she could often be found cooking Sunday meals for those she loved. She took great pride in her grandbabies and never missed a chance to share their accomplishments. These are the memories her family will hold closest.
