Rose Marie Locklear Obituary

Ms. Rose Marie Locklear, 74, of 509 N. Jones St., was born March 20th, 1951 to the late Roscoe and Mary Frances Woodell of the Union Chapel Community. She passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Scotland Regional Hospice's Morrison Manor, surrounded by loved ones.

Along with her parents, Ms. Rose is preceded in death by her devoted husband of 40 years, Philip Ray Locklear; two brothers, William B. Woodell and Mitchell Woodell; and step-son Eric Ray Locklear.

A loving mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, Rose is survived by her son, Joseph Preston Locklear; her daughter, DeShaun Ametric Dial; two step-daughters, Bobbie Ann Ryberg and Tongee Sabrina Bennett (Barry); five cherished grandchildren: Alannah Rose Locklear, Nolan Bradley Dial, Leah Gracelyn Dial, Darius Ethan Bennett, and Rhiannon Lynn Bennett. She also leaves behind her siblings: Sammy Woodell (Mary), Roger Woodell (Angeline), Monnie Scott, Jimmy McGirt of Hoke County, and Linda Sue Ivey also of Hoke County, along with many other family members and friends, will remember her kindness, strength, and enduring love for her family

Rose had a warm and gentle yet fierce spirit, always placing others before herself. She devoted her life to caring for her family. She loved gardening and being outdoors when she was able. She will be remembered for her deep faith, unwavering love for her family, and the love she gave so freely.
