Rodney Locklear, age 67 of Maxton, NC departed this life on Saturday March 07, 2026. He was born in Robeson County on November 17, 1958. He graduated from Pembroke Sr. High in 1976 and joined the army in 1979 as a Medical Specialist and later promoted to a paratrooper (82 Airborne) of Fort Bragg, NC. He was the son of Lucille Locklear & Late Evans Locklear. He was preceded in death by his father, siblings Joyce Ann, Regina, and Jim Evans Locklear.
Rodney is survived by his children Amy Owens (Gary) of Rowland, Carl W. Jones of Red Springs and Robert Locklear of Pembroke four grandchildren Garbrena, Gary Owens II, Alana Owens, and Isaiah Locklear
He survived by his remaining siblings Patricia Locklear of the home, Linda Jacobs, Mary Rose Jones (Evangelist Jimmy Jones), Vicky Deese all of Maxton, Sister-in-Law Grace Locklear of Lumberton, along with a host of many nieces, nephews and relatives.
Rodney found joy in spending time with family, especially while fishing and watching NASCAR racing with his nephews.
Though he will be deeply missed, we find comfort in hope of meeting again. The legacy Rodney has left behind is in the hearts he touched. We know that Rodney’s memory will remain close to us all. We love you!
