Robert Elsie Carter, aged 96, of Lumberton, North Carolina, was born on September 25, 1929, to the late David and Amanda “Mandy” Jane Carter. After a long and well-lived life, he peacefully entered his heavenly home on January 21, 2026.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lucille Hunt Carter; his son, David Lucion Carter; his grandson, Robert Elsie Carter III; five sisters, Lucille Thompson, Aggie Burnett, Caroline Locklear, Gracie Lee Carter and Claire Mae Carter; and five brothers, David Boyd Carter, Wade Carter, Thomas Carter, Jeff Carter and Elvert Carter.

Mr. Carter’s memory will be cherished by his devoted family, including his two daughters, Wanda Carter Ward (Billy) of Supply and Pamala Carter (Marcy) of Tennessee; and his son, Robert "Buddy" Elsie Carter Jr. (Betty) of Red Springs. He also leaves a loving legacy of nine grandchildren — Tanya, Tonya, William, Dana, Davita, Toby, Aaron, Jonathan and Angel — along with twenty-two great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, and three more precious little ones on the way along with a host of relatives and friends.
