Mr. Richard Strickland, 80, of 389 Cabinet Shop Road, was born March 30, 1945 and departed this life on Thursday, May 29, 2025.  He is preceded in death by his parents: Wilson and Viola Strickland, and his siblings: Arnold Strickland, Mr. Wilson Strickland Jr, Ms. Ruthie Jane Strickland, Mr. Steven Strickland, Mr. Rudolph Strickland, Ms. Vietta Chavis, Ms. Lonia Mae Strickland, Ms. Alice Locklear, Mr. Wilson Earl Strickland, and his former wife Ms. Mattie Lou Locklear Strickland.

Surviving are his children: Mr. Sharie Strickland, Ms. Sonya Lowry (Chris Locklear), and his grandchildren: Mr. Hampton Lowry, Ms. Destiny Lowry, and Ms. Morgan Jones, and 6 great grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.

Destiny Lowry: Granddaddy was a proud Veteran with the U.S. Army.  He often talked about his tour in Germany with great pride.  He will receive full military honors at the grave site.  He loved to visit family and friends and took great pleasure in gossiping!  Wherever he went, he never met a stranger.  He was also known for his famous Raisin cake.  We were lucky to have him.  We will miss him dearly, but I will smile every time I think of the life he lived and the love he gave.  Thank you, granddaddy-for everything.
