On Tuesday, May 25, 2021, David “Buck” Lowery, Jr., loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away at the age of 80 - just one month shy of his 81st birthday. Buck was born on June 28, 1940 in Lumberton, NC to David and Heather Lowry of the Saddletree Community. He was a graduate of Magnolia High School, a U.S. Army veteran, a long haul trucker, master carpenter, pastor, and Bible teacher. He married Mary D. Oxendine on September 25, 1976 and they raised one son, Caleb, and one daughter, Liberty.
His daily routine included a morning visit to Graceland Food Mart to drink coffee with his friends while they discussed local and national news. He was an avid Bible student and teacher. He was an assistant Pastor and Wednesday night Bible teacher at Mt. Olive Baptist Church for many years.
Buck was preceded in death by his parents, David and Heather Lowry; and by his oldest sibling, his sister, Marie.
He is survived by his wife Mary D. Oxendine Lowry; three children,-Caleb C. Lowery, Liberty Lowery, and David Earl Hunt; six sisters, Marice Carter, Mary Burnette, Katherine Locklear, Jinnie Lowery, Sandra Lowry, Mary Alice Lowry; two brothers, Bobby Lowry and Jimmie Lowery; and a host of nieces and nephews.
