Rachel Locklear Dial, age 81, of Lumberton, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, August 27, 2025. Born on January 5, 1944, to the late John H. Locklear and Zadie Rae Locklear, Rachel was a woman of unwavering faith who dedicated her life to her family and her church. 

For over 20 years, she worked as a sewing machine operator at Jaspers Textile, but her true calling was nurturing and providing for those she loved. She had a remarkable ability to fill any room with laughter, and her joyful spirit will be deeply missed. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, John H. and Zadie Rae Locklear; her son, Walter Locklear; her brothers, John, Samuel, Daniel, Aubrey, James D., and George Locklear; and her sisters, Mary Emanuel and Myrna Oxendine. 

Rachel is survived by her loving husband of many years, Clyde Dial; her sons, Gary Lynn Locklear and Jessie Jacobs, Jr.; Clyde Dial, Jr (Danielle), and her daughter, Samantha Chavis. She also leaves behind her sister, Betty A. Oxendine and her husband, Lonnie; her grandchildren, Amanda Locklear (Dwight Hunt), Walter A. Locklear (Stevie J), Christopher Woodell, and Matthew Jacobs; her 16 great-grandchildren; her four great-great-grandchildren; and many cherished nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.
