Mr. Plummer Locklear, age 95, of the Saddletree Community, Lumberton NC, departed his earthly home and entered his Heavenly Home on Friday, January 8, 2021, in the home of his daughter, Verna L. Jacobs. He was born in Robeson County on July 22, 1925, to James (Jim) Thompson, Shannon, NC and Armatha Locklear, Lumberton, NC.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three brothers, Alton Dial, Laurinburg, NC, Theodore (Drake) Locklear, St. Pauls, NC, John (Sonny Boy) Locklear, Lumberton, NC; one sister, Frances Thompson Locklear, Lumberton, NC; one son, Raven Locklear, Lumberton, NC; his former spouse and mother of his seven children, Viola Clark Locklear, Lumberton, NC; two grandsons, Raven Demetrious Locklear, Monroe, NC, Joshua Carter Hellon, England; one granddaughter, Melissa Locklear, Lumberton, NC.
Left to cherish his memories are three daughters, Verna Locklear Jacobs and her partner, Lamar Whitehead, Fayetteville, NC, Audrey Locklear (Edward), Lumberton, NC and Gail Locklear, Lumberton, NC; three sons, Harley Locklear (Carolyn), Lumberton, NC, Merriel Locklear, Clarkton, NC, Ronald Locklear (Mary-Lonie) Charlotte, NC; twelve grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; thirteen great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Hammonds, Lumberton, NC, Frances Oxendine, Yadkinville, NC; a host of relatives and friends; a special friend, Carson Lowery; and the assigned care workers from Community Home Care and Hospice, Fayetteville, NC.
