Pearlean Revels Obituary

Pearlean Hunt Revels of 13558 US Highway 301 N., St. Pauls, NC, was born August 17, 1946, to the late James Perry “Mutt” Hunt and Louise Rogers Hunt.   She was granted her eternal wings at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC on December 28, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, James Edward “Pete” Hunt.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Herdman Ronald Revels Jr., a son, Herdman Ronald “Ronnie” Revels III (Tammy Wilkins, special friend) of Lumberton NC, grandchildren Austin Revels of Lumberton NC and Jordan Revels of Charlotte NC and their mother Cheryl L. Revels of Lumberton NC.  Two special caregivers, Ruby Hammonds and Sheila Beck. And a special recognition to her life-long friends of Fairgrove school, Class of 1964, that remained dear to her heart.

Pearlean was born and raised in the Green Grove community in Fairmont, NC.  She attended Fairgrove High School and attended Pembroke State University.  Pearlean began playing softball in the mid-seventies and she along with her team (Saddletree Athletic Women’s Club) won two state championships.  She was the best short fielder in the state.  Pearlean retired as Supervisor from the Robeson County Board of Elections after thirty years of service.  She was an avid supporter of the Magnolia Booster Club, Saddletree Fire Department, and the Saddletree Jaycees.  She served on the LRDA Board for ten years, was pivotal in reviving, advocating and fundraising for “Strike at the Wind” serving as a planning committee member and was elected to serve five years as Lumbee Tribal Council which included one year as Speaker.  Pearlean served as President of the Robeson Historical Drama Association.  She served as Chairman of the Robeson County Democratic Party for several years as well as served on the Public Schools of Robeson County “Project Graduation” for many years.  Pearlean was presented the Order of the Long Leaf Pine in 2019 by Governor Roy Cooper. 

Pearlean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and loyal friend.  She made friends all over Robeson County and the State and never met a stranger.
