Paulette Barton Deese, 81, of Pembroke, N.C. was born March 18th, 1944 to the late Vestie (“Pink”) Barton Sampson. She entered her eternal rest on April 15th, 2025 to be with her Lord and Savior.

Mrs. Paulette Deese is preceded in death by her beloved husband Freddie (“Mack”) Deese, a son Frederick (“Freddie”) Paul Deese, and a brother Larue Barton whom she cherished and missed dearly.

Mrs. Deese graduated from Pembroke State University where she earned a degree in Education and went on to teach with the Public Schools of Robeson County. She was not just a teacher, but a mentor, guiding her students with patience and wisdom. She also kept up with many of her students over the years. Her legacy will live on in the lives she touched. She was a dedicated Christian and member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where she was a founding member of the Golden Girls. She prided herself on helping to meet the needs of people in her church and the community as well as telling everyone she met about her Lord and Savior.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and memories to her brothers: Glenn Barton (Linda) of Rowland, N.C., Trent Barton (Carol) of Rowland, N.C., and Larry Barton (Ruby) of Pembroke, N.C., and a special cousin whom she called her brother John R. Smith (Juanita) of Rowland, N.C., a daughter-in-law Gail Deese, granddaughter Magnolia Vest (Josh), grandson Zachary Deese ((Kali), and a great-grandson Zayne Deese, along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. All of whom will miss her and carry on her legacy.
