Paul Hunt Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, entered his heavenly home on November 1, 2023, at the age of 74. He departed peacefully surrounded by his family.
Paul was born on March 12, 1949, in Rowland, NC, to the late Paul Hunt and Lora Mae Strickland Hunt. He was one of 19 children and was so fulfilled to be a part of such a large family. He adored his siblings and each one had a special place in his heart.
Paul was a dedicated family man, a husband to his wife Elizabeth C. Hunt, “Betty” of nearly 49 years, and a loving father to his children. He was also a doting “Papa”, and his presence will be sorely missed each passing day.
In addition to his devotion to family, Paul was a pillar of the Rowland community, known for his generosity, willingness to help others, and his commitment to leadership as a Town Commissioner. He was a true friend to many, always there to lend a hand or offer a service of support to those in need. His unwavering dedication to his hometown, his golden heart, and his welcoming personality made him a beloved figure to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He loved working for Campbell Oil Company and proudly served farmers, families, business owners, corporations, and his employees for over 35 years as a business and service manager.
Throughout his life, Paul was an avid carpenter, fixer-of-all things, and a Dallas Cowboys football enthusiast. He shared his passion with those around him.
Paul Jr. will be remembered for his selfless nature, his many talents, his bold courage, and his ever-present dimpled smile. His loss leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the stories and the love he shared with so many.
To continue his legacy of giving and kindness, in lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Town of Rowland to aid in the restoration of the McCormick Park and Historical Depot.
