Patricia Hunt

Ms. Patricia Ann Spaulding Hunt, 71, of Maxton, born on April 3, 1949, passed away peacefully at her home on March 31, 2021. Pat was surrounded in body and spirit by her loving family and friends as she transitioned into her heavenly place. Pat was a devoted associate at Smithfield Foods in Tar Heel, NC for 27 years. She joined the Smithfield team prior to the plants opening and served in many roles during her tenure. Most recently, with Human Resources where she led orientations, prior to her retirement in 2019.

Mama Pat was a beacon of light and lovingly known as a dear friend to so many. Her smile could light up a room and her heart was full of the love and compassion of her savior, Jesus. Pat loved God and worshiped at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church among her beloved congregation. She enjoyed spending precious time with her daughters, grandchildren, sister and all her family. Family was the center of her happiness and made her very proud. She also enjoyed travelling and creating memories to be cherished. She will forever be honored and missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents Marvin D. Spaulding and Kizzie Hunt; Stepfather Edison Hunt; Brother Jimmy Hunt; Daughter Tosha Ann Pierce Smiling; Nephew Freddie O’Conner. 

She leaves to cherish her memories a daughter, Melissa Kay Pierce Magassouba (Magas) – Sisters, Rose Bartley (Bill) Ellen Drew Sicotte (Jim) –Brother, Pete Hunt (Donna) –  Aunt Sally Ann Bullard (James Earl) – Grandchildren Jacob L. Smiling, Jaydon M. Magassouba, Jared L. Smiling, Jillian L. Smiling, and Melia F. Magassouba –  Nieces and Nephews Roger Sicotte, Don Sicotte, Mary Brooks, Tammie Bartley, Renee’ Paul and Stephanie Locklear. She also leaves behind her church family at Pleasant Grove United Methodist and many other family and friends that she loved dearly.
