Odessa Hall Obituary

Odessa Chavis Hall, 85, formerly of Pembroke was born on June 17, 1940, to Pauline Cummings Chavis and Ponce DeLeon Chavis. Odessa departed her earthly home at Greenbrier Assisted Living Facility in Fairmont, NC on March 15, 2026.


In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her late husband Thomas Hall, her daughter Wanda Hall Locklear, a companion Tommie Lloyd, three sisters: Ala Faye, Bonnie Faye, and Patricia Ann Chavis; four brothers: Palmer Lee Cummings, Donald Mitchell, Tony Devon, and Richard “Ricky” Chavis; one granddaughter: Shauntina Collins; two grandsons: one whom she raised as her own, Johnathon Thomas “Boggy” Hall, and Jimmy “Duke” Collins.


Odessa spent many years working on her parent’s farm and helping with her younger siblings. She went on later to receive a business degree from Pembroke State University and worked for over 20 years with Lloyds Concrete in Pembroke, NC. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when her family needed her the most. Her happiest moments were spent surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her home was the heart of great memories, celebrations, and laughter. She will always be remembered for her calm demeanor, her gentle heart and her willingness to always give to others.


Odessa leaves behind to cherish her memories two daughters Cecilia Hall (Jimmy) of Shannon and Paula Bruce (Terry) of St Pauls; one son Tommie "TK" Lloyd of Pembroke; one sister Lucille Chavis of Raeford; four brothers Ponce Deleon Chavis, Gregory Chavis (Francine), Stevie Chavis (Susan) of Pembroke, and Thomas Mark Chavis (Cynthia) of Lumberton; six grandchildren Redell Collins (Brittany), Csklaura Sampson (Chris), Deanna Collins (Marcus), Terry “TJ” Bruce, Chloe Locklear, and Tylon Lloyd, fourteen great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
