Milton “Melt” Oxendine, 73, of Lumberton, NC, succumbed to a long-term illness at home surrounded by his family on June 4, 2021. Milton was born in Lumberton, NC on August 27, 1947.
He was preceded in death by his parents Malbry and Margaret Oxendine; two brothers, Larry and Dell Oxendine.
He is survived by his wife Gwendolyn “Gwen” of 44 years; a son, Christopher (Monica) Oxendine; daughters, Terri (Garrick) Oxendine, and Crystal (Lamar) Brayboy; brothers, Donald Ray (Deloris) Oxendine, Carl Oxendine, Britton (Ruth) Oxendine, and Gene Autry (Jessie) Oxendine; sisters, Virginia Harris, Eveline Collins, and Carol Locklear. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Cameron, Emanuel, Devin, Davis, Malia, and Jacob, step-granddaughter, Micaela; many loving nieces, nephews and extended family.
Milton was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all. Milton loved carpentry and worked as a contractor for over 30 years until he was forced to stop due to his illness. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Milton was always there to help friends with carpentry projects or whatever else they needed him for.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the staff of Scotland Hospice of Laurinburg who provided such loving care and support. A special thank you is also extended to Vickie Freeman and Wanda Hunt for all the care and love provided during his illness.
