Ms. Melba Chavis Harris, 85 of Maxton, NC made her way to her Heavenly home on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Scotland Hospice House. She was born March 31, 1939, to the late Danny and Cassie Chavis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clell Harris, her parents, two brothers: Danny "Cha," and Villie Chavis, eight sisters: Lorainne and Annie Lee Chavis, Louvenia "Tickin" Ledwell, Lousie "Shine" Chavis, Ella Mae Davis, Rosetta "Dot" Garrett, Mary Magdalene "Boot" Lowry and Verona Lee Jackson "Vee".
She is survived by her son Chuck Harris (Valerie "Bie"), one-granddaughter Kassie Layne Harris; two brothers Hudell Chavis (Jane) and Michael Chavis; three sisters Judy Gorman, Barbara Strickland "Aunt Bob" (W.J.) and Patricia Chavis "Tish". Two special friends: Harvey Lee Bullard (Linda) - neighbors of 50+ years, extended special family: William Locklear (Papa William) (Elvera-Grandma-V).
