Mattie H. Locklear

Mrs. Mattie Hunt Locklear, 70, of Saint Anna Road, Pembroke, NC departed this life at Cape Fear Valley Health Center on May 7, 2021.

Mattie was born on June 19, 1950 to the late Dudley Hunt and Ida Hunt.  She was preceded in death by her sisters: Rebecca Sampson, Kathy Norton, Linda Locklear and a grandchild, Baby Locklear.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Larry Ray Locklear of the home; one son, Larry Matthew Locklear and wife Tammy of Pembroke; one daughter, Telisha Locklear and husband Elijah of Pembroke; two grandchildren, Matthew Alexander Locklear and Brianna Nicole Locklear; two sisters, Mary Chavis of Fairmont and Patsy Hunt of Pembroke; one godson, Terry Lowry and a host of family and friends.

She was a dedicated librarian for the Robeson County Library for 45 years until her retirement in 2015.  A three-time cancer survivor.  She was a proud founding member and co-captain of the Relay for Life Team, The Overcomers!  Mattie was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
