Mattie Faye (Lucy) Bell , 76, from Lumberton, NC was granted her eternal wings on January 25, 2018 at Southeastern Regional Hospital. She was born July 26, 1941 to the late Issac and Mattie (Reatha) Brewer. Her final days were spent surrounded by loving family and friends that Lucy had touched in some small way throughout her memorable life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers IV, Ray, and Homer Brewer.
She is survived by her husband, Stephen Harold Bell, Daughters, Tina Bell and Lisa Bell of the home, Lora Sampson (Ron) of Lumberton , Sandra Bell of Maxton, Darline Scott (Jerry) of Lumberton and Sheila Beck of Lumberton. A son, Stephen Bell (Latonya) of Lumberton, Sisters, Annie Sue Jones (Hilbert) of Lumberton, Letha Baker (Jerry) of Virginia, and brothers, Ennis Brewer (Noyal) of Raeford, and William Brewer (Brenda) of St. Pauls, 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Lucy attended Magnolia School and was a standout athlete. She was employed in the Industrial field, a farmer, and a community leader. Lucy supported her community and all youth sports to include coaching and mentoring hundreds of children. She enjoyed gardening and always reached out and helped those in need. She never met a stranger.
She was a member of Saddletree Church of God and attended church at Ten Mile Center Baptist Church with her family.
