Maryland Chance, Jr. Obituary

   Mr. Maryland "Duck"  Chance Jr., 82, of Lumberton, NC departed this life on Saturday June 11, 2022. 
He served the state of North Carolina as a Correctional Officer for over 20 years before retirement. Prior to his career as a North Carolina Correctional Officer, Maryland took over the family business,  Chance's Seafood Market. The fish market originated under his parents (Shine and Trulie Mae Chance) and had continuous success under Maryland's ownership. Chance's Seafood Market provided the freshest seafood in town, serving Lumberton citizens and surrounding communities.

   Mr. Maryland Chance Jr. is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Catherine Locklear Chance, his daughter Stephany Tennille Chance, his father Maryland Chance Sr. (Shine Chance), his mother Trulie Mae Chance, his mother-in-law Pearle Mae Locklear, his father-in-law Lonnie Locklear, and his brother James "Ted" Carlton Chance. 
He is survived by his children: Felicia Ann Hunt and fiance Michael S. Morton, and the father of her children Dock Lee Hunt, Tamberlin "Tammy" Kay Chance, Tina Marie Chance and husband David J. Marack, Maryland "Landy" Chance III and wife Elizabeth Chance, Johnathan "John" Craig Chance and wife Krystle Chance, Starr LaDawn Hunt and husband Shelton Hunt Jr., Nicholas "Nick"   Cornelius Chance and wife Shana M. Chance, Crystal Caroline Rock and husband Kevin Leonard Rock Jr.; eight grandchildren: Dock Lee "Lee" Hunt, Matthew "M.J." Jeremy Hunt, Cassandra "Cassie"  Marie Sampson and spouse Kevin Matthew Sampson, Jasmine Corrin Chance and spouse Damien Ness, Gabrielle "Gabby" Sequeora Worley, Aiyana "Ana" Marie Rock, Eli Nicholas Chance,  Kevin Leonard "Leo" Rock III,; eight great-grandchildren: Dakota Hunt, Austin Lee Hunt, Tristan Oliver Hunt, Kobe Jamarius Sampson, Dereon Jordan Sampson, Carson Jamal Ness, Lacy Mar'Lynn Ness, Neavanni "Vonni" Dahlia-Corey Worley; his siblings: Gene Chance (Marie Chance), Dorothy McGirt Chance, Ruth Chance Keen and Burney Keen, Linda Chance Clark and Melford Clark, Ronald L. Chance and Virginia Chance, and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
