Mary Magdalene Connor of Lumberton departed this life on Sunday, May 1, 2022. She was born on September 4, 1940 to Owen and Doris Harrison. She was preceded in death by her father, Owen Harrison, her mother, Doris Howard Harrison, four brothers, Frank Harrison, Tony Harrison, Jimmy Ray Harrison, and Larry Wayne Harrison, and two daughters Helen Johansson and Brenda McLamb.
She is survived by her husband, Floyd Connor of Lumberton, two daughters, Joyce Lewis (Terry) of Lumberton and Frances Hughes (Jeff) of Wilmington, one son, and Michael Connor (Jenny) of Lumberton. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Her faith and her family were the two most important things to her. She taught her family what it meant to live for Jesus and to sacrifice herself for others. She had a servant’s heart, having served in many capacities in the church since she began her walk with Christ. She loved people and gave of herself because she felt that is what her heavenly Father required of her. She liked to tell anyone that would listen how she was a sinner saved by grace. During the 70s, 80s, and 90s through teaching Sunday School, singing with the Melody Four, a nursing home ministry, and working with Young at Heart, she has no doubt touched many lives. Her light will continue to shine through her family and those whose lives she touched.
