On February 10, 2025, Lydia Marie Locklear, age 82, passed away and entered into her heavenly home. She was surrounded by her grandchildren who loved her with all their hearts!

Lydia was born on March 10, 1942, in Robeson County, North Carolina to the late James Willie Oxendine and Mary Eliza Oxendine.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husband, Arnold Ray Locklear, her sister Janice Locklear, three brothers, Lowell Dean Oxendine, Jackie Dean Oxendine, Colon Claxton Oxendine, and her son, James Kinlaw.

She is survived by two brothers; Frank Oxendine (Joan) of Rowland, North Carolina, and Hubert Oxendine of Lumberton, North Carolina; three daughters, Helen Jacobs of Lumberton, North Carolina, and Mary Frances Lowery and Deanna Beatty of Georgia. She is also survived by three grandchildren that she raised like her own; Michael Paul Lowery (Kelly) of Lumberton, North Carolina, LaTisha Lowery-Winfree (Bob) of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Melvin Rogers (Katelyn) of Lumberton, North Carolina, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family members, and friends.

Lydia truly knew it was more important to give rather than receive. Her generosity knew no bounds. Lydia was a loving mother and grandmother, and a beautiful soul who would help anyone, even animals. Her radiant smile lit up any room she entered. She enjoyed going to the beach, eating seafood, dancing, and traveling. She lived life to the fullest and especially loved spending time with her family, friends, and with her dogs and cats.
