Our hearts are filled with sorrow as we say goodbye to our cherished wife, and mother, Luvetta Alene Jacobs, 67 of Lumberton, NC. She departed this life peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. She was born on October 22, 1957, in Lumberton, NC to the late Hubert Paul Locklear of Fairmont, Nc and the late Lucille Carter Thompson of Lumberton, NC.

Alene was preceded in death by her daughter Beverly Jacobs Hester of Lumberton and son-in-law Randy Hester, both parents, a brother, Burton W. Locklear of Lumberton and stepfather, Lt. Carl Thompson III of Lumberton, NC.

Alene retired from Public Schools of Robeson County after 25 years of service in 2020. She was a faithful member and Sunday School teacher at Bayside Freewill Baptist Church for 35 years. She was known for her classy style, warmth, compassion, contagious smile, and unwavering love for life. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, fellowship, and gardening. She was a loving wife, nurturing mother and affectionate friend to anyone she met.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving husband, Bobby Jacobs of 49 years of love, a daughter, Amy Faith Jacobs of Lumberton, a sister, Brenda Chavis of Lumberton, two brothers, John P. Locklear of Pembroke, and David Carter of Charleston, SC, three half siblings, Lacy Locklear of Florida, Timothy P. Locklear of Lumberton, and Christy Kuba of Maxton and stepmother Gracie Locklear of Lumberton, and countless relatives and friends.

The family would love to extend a special acknowledgement and gratitude of appreciation to the Jacobs sisters that made my wife’s final days peaceful, comfortable and full of love and laughter.
