Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, Mrs. Lucy Jane Harris, age 93, was born on September 4, 1932, in Robeson County, N.C.  She peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, December 29, at Morrison Manor Hospice in Laurinburg, North Carolina, surrounded by love.

Mrs. Lucy was united in holy matrimony to her devoted husband, Elias Harris, Jr., with whom she shared 70 years of marriage, a beautiful testament to love, commitment, and family. She was a dedicated stay-at-home mom, lovingly raising her children and creating a nurturing home. Later in life, she worked for Marriott Food Services at UNC Pembroke for 24 years as a Chef, where she was known for her delicious country cooking and baking cakes, which she loved sharing and seeing people enjoy. She had a strong work ethic, generosity, and caring heart.

Mom also had a special gift for meeting new people, always asking with a smile, “Who’s your people?” Above all, she adored her grandchildren, whose presence would always bring a bright smile to her face.

A faithful woman, Mrs. Lucy was a devoted member of Old Prospect Church, where she found strength, fellowship, and joy in worship and service.

Mrs. Lucy was preceded in death by her husband, Elias Harris, Jr.; granddaughter, Erika Lynn Revels; sisters, Christine Hunt and Ruth Strickland; and brothers, Herbert, Ray, Joseph, and Troy Roberts.

She is survived by her children, Ellen Revels (Charlie), Garry Harris (Linda), and Dwayne Harris; sister, Katherine Oxendine (devoted sister); brother, Larry Roberts (Kay); grandchildren, Shawnda Cummings (Perry), Heather Danelle Revels, Ryan Locklear, Camelia Harris (Clint), Garry Emanuel Harris (Cheryl), Jenna Lowry (Allen Michael), and Cody Harris; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mom’s legacy of love, faith, and family devotion will live on in the generations she cherished.
