Mr. Lofty McMillian, 78, of Pembroke, NC, was born August 17, 1943 to the late Reola McMillian in Robeson County. He departed this life for his heavenly home on November 22, 2021 surrounded by his loving wife of 34 years and family.
Along with his mother, he is preceded in death by his son, James Corey McMillian, a great grandson, Master Haidyn Sampson; a brother, Millard Lowery Jr.; sisters, Glenda Locklear and Annie Ruth Locklear.
Lofty loved the Lord and his family. He was a faithful and devoted member of Gospel of Grace Baptist Church. Lofty's career in "sheetrock" expanded over 55 years and led him all across the United States. After retiring he joined R&R Security where he worked many sites finally ending 8 years at Robeson County Water Dept., where he became a great co-worker and friendly face to so many. Always willing to tell of the love and goodness of his Lord and Savior. His hearts desire was that his family and friends would come to know Jesus as their personal Savior.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Cherry Lynn McMillian of the home; sons, John Allen Oxendine (Janetta) and Lofty Locklear Jr. of Pembroke, NC and Gene Sampson of Cleemons, NC; daughters, Tesha Sampson and Nanette Jennings (Richard) of Pembroke, NC and Channell McMillian of Fayetteville, NC; brothers, Waymon Dan McMillian (Kathleen) and Charles Lowery (Tulula) both of Pembroke, NC; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; a special niece and caregiver, Nina Anderson and a host of family and friends.
