Mr. Leonard Neil Chavis, of 808 North Kingston Ave. Rockwood, TN 37854 was born February 14, 1962 in Petersburg, Virginia and departed from us Sunday September 12, 2021 completing his journey of 57 years.
He is preceded in death by his father: Johnny Chavis, his brother Johnny Dean Chavis, a step-son Rocky Bartolomei and grandson Jonathan Smith.
Leonard Chavis is survived by his wife: Michelle Chavis , one step-son Tony Sellers, two step-daughters: Dominique Gibson, and Christina Smith all of Tennessee, mother Clara Jean Chavis of Pembroke, NC, one sister Uella Jean Jones of Maxton, NC, one brother James Timothy Bell of Tulsa, OK, 20 grandchildren and 1 great- grandchild; as well as special nieces, great-nieces, nephews and great-nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
As a small child he loved to work with his hands, rebuilding bicycles and working on cars. Leonard served with the Pembroke and Red Spring Police Departments, and worked for many years with his dad and uncle in dry wall. Until moving to Tennessee to work with Hughes Net. But his greatest pride and joy was his love of cooking for his family. And he was an excellent cook and talented baker.
He had a quiet nature and mild mannered smile, but the son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend he will always be remembered for is the man you count on for anything.
