Kelvin James Locklear of Brooklock Road, Maxton, North Carolina was born on November 13, 1975 and went to be with the Lord on July 31, 2025.

Kel was a devoted and loving caregiver to his best friend and brother Chris Locklear. He truly was selfless and always put others before himself. During his thirty-plus years of sheetrock work, he learned to master the art of finishing sheetrock. He was referred, often times, as one of the greatest but he would respond: “I’m not the best just one of them”. If there was a sheetrock Hall of Fame, your name would surely be there. Everyone will forever cherish the memories shared and until God brings us back together we vow to keep your legacy alive. Kel will be missed by family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Mrs. Cathy Locklear and Mr. Lacy (Duck) Locklear; and his brother: James Davis.

Kel leaves behind five brothers: Chris Anthony Locklear of the home; Daryl Locklear and wife April, Wallace and wife Eva, Redell and wife Vicki, and Dwight Locklear; two sisters: Ms. Faye and Patricia and husband Pete. He also leaves to cherish his memories of two nephews: Hunter Drake Locklear and Brendan Gage Locklear; and a host of family and friends.

The family would like to acknowledge a very special, loving, and unwavering aunt: Slyvia Brooks. She gave everything she had to care for him. Kel was more like a son that she never had. She loved him unconditionally.
