Katie Rae (Godwin) Acosta

   Mrs. Katie Rae Godwin Acosta of Pembroke, N.C. completed her earthly journey on April 1, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was born on May 18, 1928, to the late Mr. William Daniel Godwin and Mrs. Claudia Priscilla Godwin.
   She was preceded in death by her loving husband Mr. I.B. (Shorty) Acosta, her parents William and Claudia Godwin, seven sisters; Marybell Barton, Letha Godwin, Lela Godwin, Bonnie Carter, Blanchie Kerns, Lydia Shores and Shelvia Hunt; two brothers; Austin Godwin and William Godwin and one great grandchild, Chay Glen Goins.
   Mrs. Katie leaves behind to cherish her memories, two sons; Cruzeto Acosta (Betty) of Rowland, N.C. and Paul Acosta of the home. Four daughters, Sonda Rogers (Vintress) of Rowland, N.C.; Wanda Hunt of the home; Rose Jacobs (Eddie) of Red Springs, N.C. and Delora Jacobs of Pembroke, N.C.; a special Grandson, Cecil Brandon Locklear (Kayla) of Lumberton, N.C. and a special Granddaughter, Katie Chanda Hunt (CJ) of Red Springs, N.C.; a special Great Granddaughter, Kyra Raquel Brayboy of the home, who was also her caregiver; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren, a special Sister In Law, Flora Lowery of Pembroke, N.C. and a host of family and friends.
