Kathleen Dent Cox

   Mrs. Kathleen Dent Cox of Fairmont, N.C. departed her earthly home on Saturday June 12, 2021 at the age of 88 and entered her heavenly home surrounded by family. 

   Mrs. Cox was born in Robeson County on May 9, 1933. Mrs. Cox devoted her life to her children and grandchildren always sacrificing to make sure their needs were met. Mrs. Cox and her late husband, Ashton Cox of almost 70 years were dedicated to the work of God. Mr. Ashton often wondered why Mrs. Kathleen never told him she loved him so one day she looked at him and said, “I told you I loved you once and if I change my mind I’ll let you know.” If you came to her house she would make sure you didn’t leave hungry. She loved everyone, great and small.

   She was preceded in death by her husband, Ashton Cox; her parents, E. N. and Ruth Dent; a son, Ronald “Ernie” Cox; brothers, Buddy Dent and John Henry Dent; and a sister, Mae Hickman.

   She leaves to cherish her memories a son, Robert Cox (Georgia); daughters, Kathy McPhatter (Arnold) and Tammy Cox; brothers, David Dent (Betty); James Dent (Lynnie) and Gene Watson (Jean); sisters, Pauline Britt, Edna Hickman, Sara Bass (Jimmy), Martha Walters (Harold) and Cara Britt; grandchildren, Michelle Lewis (John), Kevin McPhatter (Joy), Keith McPhatter (Shelly), Jason Cox (Heather), Derik Cox (Dorothy) and Mason Cox; four great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
