Judy Locklear Obituary

Mrs. Judy Locklear (84), of Maxton, NC, entered her Heavenly home Thursday, April 2, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones. Judy was born June 14, 1941, in Union Chapel Community, Robeson County, North Carolina to the late Mr. Dannie Locklear and Mrs. Nancy Jane Locklear.

Judy served her community by taking women seeking safety and refuge to the crisis shelter. She also served with the Women’s Missionary Union and as a Sunday school teacher for many years.

Judy was a deeply loving wife, mother, and grandmother whose life reflected quiet strength, resilience, and grace. She had a gift for making a house feel like home—through the warmth of her cooking, the sweetness of her baking, and the care stitched into every blanket she lovingly sewed. Her hands were rarely still, always creating something meaningful for the people she cherished.

Her love story with her late husband, Hubert, was one of enduring devotion—64 years of marriage, faith, and unwavering commitment. The bond they shared was a beautiful example to all who knew them, rooted in love, resiliency, and God’s grace.

Judy’s well-worn Bible was a quiet testament to her faith—a sacred place where pages were filled not only with scripture, but with handwritten praises of God’s goodness and heartfelt prayers tucked into the margins. Each note reflected her deep devotion and the love she carried for her family, as she faithfully lifted them up in prayer. That Bible was more than a book; it was a living record of her walk with God and her enduring covering of love over those she held dear.

More than anything, Judy was passionate about teaching her family how to love like Jesus and live in a way that honored God. She didn’t just speak about faith—she lived it daily, modeling compassion, generosity, and unwavering devotion. Through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, her legacy of Godly love continues to grow, a lasting testament to a life beautifully and faithfully lived.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dannie and Nancy Locklear; husband Hubert Locklear; son: John Clayton Locklear; sisters: Regina Strickland, Pearline Stanton, Helen Campbell, Mary Alice Wilkins, Lula Oxendine, Roberta Oxendine; and five brothers: John Luther Locklear (Blue Eyes), Carl Locklear, Dallas Locklear, Jerry Wayne Locklear, and Willie D. Locklear.

She is survived by her children: Hubert M. Locklear (Judy) of Maxton, NC, Myra Warriax (Harry) of Maxton, NC, Terri Nance (Gary) of Laurinburg, NC, and Patrick Locklear (Kay) of Laurinburg, NC; grandchildren, Michael Nance (Ally) of Laurinburg, NC, Dr. Megan Collins (Allan) of Lumberton, NC, Adrianne Carter (Corey) of Fairmont, NC, Dr. Aaron Locklear (Luvy) of Pembroke, NC, Molly Rivera of Fayetteville, NC, Elizabeth Oxendine (Kelvin) of Warner Robins, GA, Sarah Regling (Marcus) of Laurinburg, NC, and Kayla Locklear of Leland, NC; great-grandchildren, Isaac Carter, Tyee Collins, Hannah Carter, Avery Collins, Roman Locklear, Ares Locklear, Katoreh Oxendine, Ella Rivera, Finley Collins, Emma Regling, Bennett Collins, Kolton Oxendine, Isaiah Rivera, and Dorien Rivera; sisters, Peggy Locklear of Pembroke, Nancy Locklear (Darius) of Pembroke, Pam Locklear Emanuel of Pembroke; brother Donald Locklear (Pauline) of Wytheville, VA; a special niece Denise Stantion of Tennessee; and many extended family and friends.
