Joseph Arnold Scott, 87, of Rowland NC was born in Robeson County to James Fulton Scott and Retha Scott on April 15,1938 and entered his heavenly home on July 3, 2025.

He was preceded in death by his parents: James and Retha Scott; son: Larry Dean Scott; his brothers: Hubert Scott and Bud Scott. He is survived by his wife of 59 years: Shirley Scott, his daughter: Tammy Sullivan (Steve) of Rowland, and two special grandsons: Stevie Sullivan (Stacia) and Cody Sullivan (Dayla) both of Rowland. A brother: Billy Scott (Francis) of Rowland, three sisters: Virginia Lowery of Rowland, Lisa Oxendine (Randy) of Shannon and Carolyn Russ of Fork, SC; his precious great grands: J.C., Larry, Sunday, Samuel, Dawson, K’son, and the newest little blessing due later this month Colson. Also, bonus grandchildren: Tonya, Mary, Alex, Chloe and Zoey.

Some interesting facts about Joseph are that he was an avid gardener and loved his flowers, especially roses. He had a green thumb and could grow anything. He loved to count and collect pennies. He was a self-taught piano and keyboard player and played by ear. He loved his two parakeets: TK and Polly. He also loved to draw and had the prettiest handwriting. Joseph had several professions during his life such as cloth cutter, spreader at several sewing plants in the county and he was also a furniture deliver and set up man and delivered for Pates Building Supply. He retired from Contempora Fabrics in 2009 at the age of 71. He loved to take an afternoon nap and when he woke up, he would enjoy vanilla oreos or little debbie fig newtons.
