Mr. John (Candy) Brooks, 75, departed this life at his home on Sunday, April 27, 2025.  He was born December 2, 1949 in Robeson County to the late Mr. Early and Mrs. Callie Brooks.  He was the last living son of his parents.

He is preceded in death by his wife Mrs. Ruby Brooks; one son, Mr. Richard Locklear; four brothers; Mr. Early Rome, Mr. Luke, Mr. George Wayne, and Mr. Donald Ray; six sisters; Mrs. Gerline, Mrs. Pearline, Mrs. Margaret and Mrs. Catherine.

He leaves to cherish his memories six sisters, Mrs. Blondell (Britton), Mrs. Vergie (Bobby), Mrs. Lenore (Landros), Mrs. Vienna, Ms. Annette and Mrs. Dina Kaye (JL); one special brother Mr. Don (Sabrina); two sons; Mr. Jonathan (Rissa) Brooks and Mr. Greg Locklear all of Rowland; two daughters, Ms. Charlene Brooks and Ms. Patty Locklear (James) all of Rowland.  Ten grandchildren; Rigde, Taylor, Hilston, Cameron, Timberland, Nitara, Tammy, Tierra, Richard and Kaitlyn Grace; Six great grandchildren, Axton, Tylon, Taylee, Talayah, Skylar, Camden and a host of relatives and friends.
