Joann Werrell Obituary
Ms. Joann H Werrell, age 72, of Maxton, NC went to her eternal home on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.
Our mother was born on June 13, 1948 at Baker’s Sanatorium Hospital in Lumberton. She was known for being humble and she loved feeding neighbors, friends, and family. Mother Joann loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren unconditionally.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Callie Mae Hunt and James Alton Hammonds; her biological father, Louise Lowry; a step-sister, BeBee Locklear; her grandparents, Barney Ester Hunt; and two special friends, Sally Locklear and Tyrone Locklear.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories her children, four Sons Ronnie Strickland (Linda), Alton Strickland, Claude Les Werrell (Desiree), and Emmanuel Isaac Werrell (Melisa); three Daughters, Kathy S Oxendine (Ricky), Deadra Joann Werrell (Christopher), India Mae Locklear (Gary); 28 Grandchildren; 22 Great Grandchildren; one Brother, Terry Lynn Hammonds (Josie); six Step-sisters, Bonnie, Barbara, Glenda, Jackie, Sandy and Teresa; two special friends, Doris Locklear and Randolph Locklear; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
