James Monroe Obituary
James H. Monroe, Jr., 53, of Hwy 211 East, Lumberton, NC, departed this life on Saturday Feb. 9, 2019 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center. He was born in Bladen County, NC on May 12, 1965, a son of Shirley Newburg and James H. Monroe, SR.
James was a devoted husband, father, brother, son and grandpa.
He is preceded in death by his special aunt, Mary Alice Monroe Burirngton, paternal grandparents, Howard C. Monroe and Berline Smith Monroe; maternal grandparents, Hardy and Essie Suggs.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Veanna Jane Monroe of the home; his father, James H. Monroe, Sr. (Linda) and mother Shirley Newburg; five children, Heather Kennedy of White Oak, John Monroe of Pembroke, Mary Monroe of Pembroke, Sarah (Eliza) Melvin of Bladenboro, Alexis Drayton (Geovanne) of Elizabethtown, NC; four stepsons, Carlton Jacobs, Jr., William R. Jacobs, Jason Jacobs, and Nathan Jacobs all of Pembroke, NC; 19 grandchildren that he loved dearly; three brothers, Matthew E. Monroe(Julie), Christopher H. Monroe (Ginny), James P. Monroe( Paige); three sisters, Angeline F. Hall(Bill), Candy M. Watson(Robert), and Victoria L. Liles; and a host of other relatives and friends.
