With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved James “Jimmy” McLean, 78, a
devoted husband, cherished father, fun-loving brother, and an extraordinary grandpa. Jimmy
departed this world on Friday, September 15, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness,
and wisdom that will forever be etched in our hearts. Born on January 11, 1945, in
Lumberton, NC, to the late Neal and Naomi McLean,
He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He experienced many hardships and horrors during his service but his strong bond and faith to the Lord had always kept him moving forward. He served in many roles at Bethel Baptist Church, including deacon and Sunday School
Teacher. He proudly retired as an HVAC Supervisor for the Public Schools of Robeson
County. He possessed a gentle spirit and a warm personality that could light up any room.
Jimmy McLean is preceded in death by his eldest sister Jean Currin, brother Wayne McLean,
and granddaughter Jada Brixey, all of whom meant so much to him.
Jimmy McLean is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda McLean, daughter Katina Brixey (Charles Brixey), and grandchildren Haley Brixey and Maggie Brixey, along with his siblings Dale McLean and
Daphney Hayes. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Behind his devotion toward his wife and unwavering love for his child, and dedication
toward the grandchildren, Jimmy was a pillar of strength and hope for everyone.
He exemplified the true meaning of commitment and sacrifice
Jimmy leaves behind a profound void in the lives of his beloved family and friends, however
his legacy of love, compassion and unwavering dedication will forever be cherished and
celebrated in our heart.
Rest in eternal peace. Your love and light will forever guide and inspire us,
