James P. Jones of Lumberton, was born on Thursday March 2, 1950 in Robeson County to the late George Hoover Jones and Zelma Hunt. He was born into eternity on Monday September 13, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his family, completing his journey of 71 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step father, Angus “Tank” Hunt; two brothers, Kenny Jones and Oscar; sister, Susan Oxendine.
He graduated from Fairgrove High School in Fairmont, NC 1968, he married the love of his life, Linda “Rose” Jones they would have celebrated 52 years on September 25, 2021. Following his dream to go into Air Force November 12, 1969 he retired 20 years as a photographer doing what he loved. He attended First Assembly of God where he was a deacon of the church. He loved serving the Lord. He loved giving his testimony of his victory over cancer. He was a wonderful husband, dad, grandpa, brother and uncle.
Surviving is his wife, Linda Rose Jones of the home; one daughter, Michelle and Don Floyd of Fairmont; one son of the home, James P. Jones; two brothers, Glenn E. Jones of Jeffersonville, IN, Tommy Lowery of Pembroke; two sisters, Ronya Jones and Tonya Dunn both of Spartanburg, SC; step mother, Betty Jones of Raleigh, NC; three grandchildren, Crystal and Jessy Chavis of Lumberton, Layni Jones of Lumberton, Donald Floyd of Fairmont; three great grandchildren, three nieces, one nephew, aunts uncles and cousins and a host of friends they were all special to him.
