Rome leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 38 years, Janet Scott; a son Jack Jerid Scott and his wife Chenora; a daughter Barbara Janine Scott; three grand-children Raylan Dean, Mia Jansley and Jack Christer; one god-daughter Alaney Locklear; six sisters, Teresa Oxendine, Kathy Jacobs (Ronnie), Cindy Scott, Eve Scott, Heather Hunt and Beatrice Locklear (Larry); five brothers, Johnny Scott (Karen), Bobby Joe Scott, Marty Scott, Willie Paul Scott (Gina), and Chad Scott (Vanessa); a special family, Cameron & Renee Locklear along with their children Karli, Luke and Dinah; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Rome was loved and supported by many people. He loved to sit under the tree on his swing with what he called his “community kids”, Rylan, Ashton, Bobby, Tryson, Tyler and Landon. Even though Rome loved the friendship he had with these individuals, he never missed an opportunity to work them while they were there. From cutting the grass to washing vehicles, he always had these young men help him do whatever needed to be done. Rome also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and working in the yard. He always said that his wife was a slave driver when it came to her flowers, which is the main reason he created the flower beds in their yard.
Rome was a person who never met a stranger. He was blessed with the gift of a joking spirit and a giving heart. These talents are a testament to why so many people loved him dearly and will forever cherish his memory.
