Helen Strickland

   Mrs. Helen Oxendine Strickland, 74 of Raeford, NC, went to her heavenly home on June 13, 2021.

   She was preceded in death by her mother, Elvie Hammonds Oxendine Hester; her father, Malcolm Clifford Oxendine; and three brothers, Malcolm Oxendine, Martin Luther Oxendine, and Hal S. Oxendine.

   She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband, Command Sgt. Major (Ret) Tommy Edward Strickland; her daughter, LaDeanna Strickland Flowers; son-n-law, Charles Michael Flowers, of Marion, NC; grandchildren, Shannon Marie Flowers and Michael Dale Flowers; three brothers, Dexter Oxendine, Ronald Oxendine (Connie) of Fairmont, NC, and Jeffrey Oxendine (Patty-Kay) of Atwater, Ohio.

   Helen was a member of The American Legion Auxiliary in Frankfurt, Germany. She was employed by the AAFES Headquarters Exchange of Heidelberg Germany and the Dept. of the United States Army of Frankfurt Germany, and the American Tobacco Co. of Fayetteville, NC.

   Helen adored her husband Tommy and she enjoyed being a mother and grandmother to her grandchildren. She enjoyed being a homemaker, floral design, crafts, cooking, baking, worship services, and extended family and friends.
