Helen Godwin Obituary
Mrs. Helen L. Godwin of Lumberton, North Carolina departed this life from home on Friday, April 3, 2026, at the age of 84. She was born in Robeson County on November 28, 1941 to Preston and Martha Lee McGirt Locklear.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, William Godwin, two brothers, William Locklear, and Leon Jones as a well as a son, Jerry Godwin.
She was a partner of 52 years to Lawrence Lowery, Jr., who lived in the home with her who she loved dearly and he also loved her. Helen was the mother of two daughters, Pamela J. Godwin, and Lawrenceen Godwin, and the proud grandmother of three, Triston D. Lowery, Helena L. McGirt, and Joshua C. McGirt, and a host of relatives and friends who remain to cherish the memory of this compassionate, caring and devoted friend. Helen was all this and so much more.
