Gerlene Blue Hammonds, age 66 of Rowland, NC was born April 2, 1959 and completed her earthly journey on December 4, 2025 at home, her favorite place to be. 

Gerlene's greatest joy was her family, and she was a loving, dedicated mother and grandmother. Gerlene had a special fondness for flowers and enjoyed spending time outdoors gardening.

Gerlene is preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Tessie & James Blue, a daughter Stephaine Hammonds, a grandson Andrew Locklear, and four brothers, Jerry Blue, Lee Verne Blue, Lee Frank Blue, & Tommy Blue. 

Gerlene leaves to cherish her memories her husband Tony Hammonds of Rowland; a daughter Misty Locklear (Randy) of Maxton; a son Rodney Hammonds (Shannon) of Pembroke; two granddaughters, Wisteria Lowery & Stephanie Locklear of Maxton; five grandsons, Michael "Donavon" Strickland of Pembroke, Tabanche Hammonds of Pembroke, Lakota Locklear of Maxton, Adam "AJ" Hammonds of Pembroke, & Matthew Locklear of Maxton; three great grandsons, Kaiden Strickland, Tacoma Hammonds, and Waylen Locklear; one great-granddaughter Ka'layyva Lowery; soon to be great-granddaughter Everleigh Lowry; eight brothers and sisters, Gurney Blue (Carolyn) of Fuquay-Varina; Clementine Butler (Rev. Jerry) of Fairmont; Lee Grant Blue (Teresa) of Fairmont; Ernestine Pierce of Rowland; Timmy Blue (Lisa) of Shannon; Sheila Blue of Rowland; Jennifer Blue of Rowland; Leon Blue of Rowland; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, special relatives, and friends.
