George Calvin Allen Jr., 87, of Lumberton, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 29, 2024. Born on June 23, 1937, he was the son of the late Dr. George Calvin Allen Sr., M.D., and Margaret (Allen) Allen.
A proud graduate of Lumberton Senior High School in 1955, George went on to attend North Carolina State University, where he was an exceptional member of the golf team recognized for his talent and leadership. He earned a degree in Industrial Engineering in 1959.
Following his graduation, George honorably served his country during the Vietnam War, earning the rank of Captain in the United States Air Force.
George was a man of unwavering faith. He believed that “Jesus Loves Us” all and did his best to spread this message throughout the many lives he touched. His family takes comfort in knowing he has been reunited with the Lord he cherished so dearly. Whether sharing his love for the game of golf, creating art, or delivering a perfectly timed joke, George’s wit, humor, and generosity left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. To know him was to love him.
He was preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter, Sonja Nicole Lamb.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Phyllis (Bullock) Allen; four daughters, Leisha Cascaddan (Terry), Terrill Windom (Glenn), Dana Lux (Brad), and Tonya Green (Michael); one stepson, Timmy Connor (Lisa); seven grandchildren: Tanner Nance, Raegan Reeves, Landon Green, Greysen Green, Hayley Connor, Ashley Connor, Bear Lux, and Logan Lux; and one great grandchild, Bella Otis.
A visitation will be held at Revels Funeral Home on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 12 p.m., followed by a graveside service at Gardens of Faith Cemetery at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in memory of our beloved George. He will live in our hearts forever and made a mark on the community and those around him that could never be forgotten.
Additionally, if you were ever gifted a butterfly card from George, we kindly ask that you bring it with you to the visitation or funeral service. As a tribute to his generous spirit and dedication to sharing his Christian faith, we would love to capture a photograph of everyone holding their butterflies—a heartfelt reminder of the kindness and faith he shared with so many throughout his life.
