Mr. Garry Revels, 74, of the Prospect Community, was called to his heavenly home on Friday, March 14, 2025.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Deas Revels and Lorraine Revels, and his beloved sister, Linda Burke.
Garry is survived by his children: son, Eric Revels of Lumberton, NC; daughter, Syrina Revels of Prospect, NC; son, Kerry (Sherry) Revels of Prospect, NC; and daughter, Myia (Jorge) Reyes of Lumberton, NC. He also leaves behind his four loving sisters: Helen Baker (Fred) of Waxhaw, NC; Judy Barton (Danny) of Prospect, NC; Audrey Chavis of Pembroke, NC; and Shelia Locklear (Timmy) of Lumberton, NC. Garry was also a proud grandfather to many and a cherished great-grandfather. In addition, he was deeply loved by a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
A proud Air Force veteran, Garry was known to many as a "jack of all trades" — a man who could fix anything, a historian of wars and beyond, and a skilled cook who could whip up a storm in the kitchen. His nickname “Airplane” was well-known to many, but to his grandchildren, he was simply known as “Papa Garry.” Fiercely independent and sometimes stubborn, Garry's love was expressed through action. Whether it was building, repairing, or creating something from leather, Garry's love language was always present in the work of his hands.
Garry's legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever be cherished.
