Gail Smith Locklear of Lumberton, North Carolina, passed away at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill, SC on October 26, 2024 surrounded by loved ones.  

Gail was born September 2, 1959 in Lumberton, North Carolina, to the late Sarah Ruth Hunt Smith and Norman Smith. In addition to her parents, Gail was preceded in death by her sister Peggy Smith and brother Bobby Smith. 

Gail was a graduate of Magnolia High School and was retired from the Quickie’s Manufacturing and Kayser Roth Manufacturing, where she worked for over thirty years.

The simplest pleasures of life brought great joy to Gail. She enjoyed travelling, especially to Hawaii, where she recently visited again for her final vacation. Gail also enjoyed shopping, discovering new recipes to share with family and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandson Jax.

Gail will be deeply missed by her sons Steven Smith and Shawn Darr of Clover, SC, Reggie Locklear and Jason Locklear, both of Lumberton, NC; grandchildren Christian, Branacon and Shania, all of Lumberton, NC; and great grandchild Jax “Massimo” Locklear; sisters Barbara Rogers (Ernest), Sally Smith, Gloria Ann Oxendine (Jerry), Audrey Locklear (Joe), Patricia Hunt (John) all of Lumberton; brother Anthony Smith (Tootie) of Florence, SC; numerous other loving relatives.

Gail recently recommitted her life to the Lord and was looking forward to eternity in His welcoming embrace. 

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”  2 Timothy 4:7-8
